In 1964 Eric Dolphy recorded an album titled "Out To
Lunch" (He died later that year from diabetes). Some 40 years later I heard this
LP for the first time and it blew me away. I've never lied to you before.. I've
never had a reason to lie to you.. my advice to you is to forget everything you
know about Jazz (the fear of Jazz is said to be the fourth greatest fear of
adults aged 18 to 52 proceeded by the fear of public speaking, the fear of death
and the fear of using those little community bottles of "pepper sauce" at Steak
N' Shake) and go out and buy this album (or CD if you are into that sort
of thing) and play it as loud as the terms of your lease will allow.
There is a new RVG remastered CD of Out To Lunch and you can snag it on Amazon
for less than the price of a large stuffed crust pizza and medium drink. Both
Amazon and Pizza Hut deliver but you don't have to tip Amazon or pick off any
un-ordered toppings. I used to work for Dominoes during the first Gulf War and
it says right in their hand book that if any customer say's the phrase "no
anchovies" it's OK to hide some under the cheese. I digress..
